Dr Sanduk Ruit, A New Vision Co-Founder and Tilganga Eye Institute Medical Director was an invited speaker to the 28th APACRS (Asia-Pacific Association of Cataract & Refractive Surgeons) annual meeting held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 5-8 August 2015.
The meeting attracted more than 1,300 delegates. Dr Ruit presented a masterclass on the very important topic of Manual Small Incision Cataract Surgery (MSICS) with the assistance of Dr Nikolle Tan from Singapore and Dr Anuchit from Thailand. More than 200 delegates packed the room to listen to this masterclass.
In addition, Dr Ruit delivered a special lecture entitled ” The role of MSICS in modern day cataract surgery” in one of the main symposia.
The response to his presentations was so good that he will again be running this masterclass and giving another special lecture in the 29th APACRS meeting to be held in Bali, Indonesia on 27-30 July 2016.
MSCIS is a topic that is very relevant to the more rural areas of Indonesia where low cost but effective cataract surgery is needed.
