
No longer blind, Agus confidently led Theresia Sembiring up the stairs.
Agus Salim Gulo (8) and Nefi Dharmawati Gulo (10) are siblings from Nias island who were very unfortunate to suffer from congenital cataracts. They were quiet and withdrawn, unable to communicate their feelings and could not express what their dreams were, when asked.
Children suffering from childhood blindness do not get the same learning opportunities as able sighted children and their development suffers accordingly.
This is such as tragedy because a quick surgery which costs less than a night out (for most of us), could have immediately restored their sights.
